What are the steps one can take to treat flu?
These are the ways through which the flu can be treated:
- Staying away from people who are sick: These people are the main source of the influenza virus. When they cough or sneeze, they infect the air around them. Any healthy person can become infected easily by inhaling the hair.
- Washing hands regularly: Hands acts as germ carriers. Out of all the body organs, hands are the most likely parts to spread the influenza. As a result, they must be washed thoroughly – for at least 20 seconds – every now and then.
- Getting flu shot vaccines: These contain antibodies which help fight against the influenza virus. Since there are many different strains of each type of the influenza virus, it is impossible for anybody to develop complete immunity from the virus. As a result, people need to get flu shots regularly – at least once every year
- Taking Tamiflu: This drug contains oseltamivir phosphate and comes in capsule forms. It can alleviate the symptoms of the flu. In addition, it can help in developing immunity from the flu. This drug is most effective if used immediately – right on the day the person is exposed to the virus for the first time.
- Taking Relenza (zanamivir): This drug comes in powders that must be inhaled. It is known for reducing the intensity of the flu. It also helps the affected person recover quickly.
