What are the Symptoms of Cold in a Child?
A cold is typically the viral infection that occurs in the nose and throat of your child, that is, the upper respiratory tract. While colds are, quite simply put, a major nuisance, it is of utmost important to consider and notice the symptoms and signs of the illness in the case of your baby.
The main symptoms of such the common cold are a runny nose and nasal congestion. Most babies are the ones to commonly catch the cold, as they are prone to being around other babies and children who do not wash their hands and are thus unhygienic.
While a runny or congested nose is the primary sign of the common cold, discharge from the nose that may look very clear in the beginning, but gradually changes color into other shades of green or yellow and comes out thicker also indicates that a child is infected with the cold.
Amongst other, quite common symptoms there are:
- Sneezing
- Low fever (of around 37.8 degrees Celsius)
- Coughing
- Irritability
- Loss of appetite
- Restless slumber
