How alcohol is related to common cold?

It has been found that moderate alcohol drinkers tend to have better health and live longer than those who are heavy drinkers and abstainers. Moderate drinkers also have fewer heart attacks, and apart from that, they generally suffer less from hypertension, high blood pressure, Alzheimer’s disease, peripheral artery disease and the common cold.

Alcohol has been used for medicinal purposes throughout history, and its medicinal properties are mentioned a lot of times in the Old and New Testaments. With the turn of this century, the fact was well established that moderate drinkers have fewer heart attacks than heavy drinkers. And other health benefits have continued to discover with time.

Research was carried out and the findings were quite interesting. It shows that there is a reduction of cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease if a person drinks moderately. The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reported that the longevity of moderate drinkers increase significantly. Heart diseases are known to decrease by 40-60% for moderate drinkers. The fact is surprising because cardiovascular disease is the main cause for death in the US. Around one million Americans get killed by heart disease. Apart from that, the moderate drinkers tend to have less incidence of a broad range of disease and other health problems.
