How can common weed be used to relief cold and flu symptoms?

Common weed, or Plantain, is a plant or a weed, with medicinal properties, that is commonly the lawn or garden. The common weed has natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and germicidal properties. It also contains vitamins such as A, B1, and C, and other nutrients such as riboflavin and potassium.  With all the therapeutic goodness that is has to offer, the common weed can be used as an herbal remedy to relieve infections such as cold and flu.

The common weed can be used to make tea that gives comfort with cold and flu. To make the tea, the common weed and all its parts, such as the leaves, roots, flowers and seeds, should be washed properly with clean, cold water. The entire plant should then be cut into tiny pieces.  A table spoon of the chopped plant should then be boiled in a cup of boiling water for about 10 minutes, before straining it. The drink can be sweetened with some sugar, or preferably, honey, and drunk a few times to help with the cold.

‘Life medicine’ is what the American Indian word for the plantain translates to, and it has been used as a remedy to various infections throughout centuries. Maybe it is about time that we realize the healing properties of the otherwise nuisance in the lawn known as common weed.
